Periyar must have turned in his grave, when his beloved disciple Dr. K.Veeramani was exulting in parading the luminaries of the medical profession in Tamil Nadu, who are the direct beneficiaries of Periyar’s long struggle for the upliftment of the oppressed.
On the 24th of December, 2011 at 5.30 p.m., the M.R.Radha Memorial Hall at Periyar Thidald was full to its capacity with the most enthusiastic soldiers of Social Justice who had turned up in large number to remember and pay tributes to the great leader Periyar on the 38th anniversary of his demise.
This was perhaps the most appropriate occasion to prove with flesh and blood the fruits of Periyar’s stupendous efforts to get the non-Brahmins to don the roles of doctors and physicians. Good many successful and great names in the professionwere on stage, each being introduced to the audience with their specialities and achievements, to the thunderous applause of those gathered.
Dr.K.Veeramani was in great spirit in recollecting the services and uniqueness of each doctor in the most gratifying function.
